Yes, you are most welcome to bring the entire family!
How far is De La Rouge from the nearest International airport?
O.R. Tambo International Airport is 3 hours drive from us.
Can De La Rouge offer a shuttle service from the airport?
Yes, we can with prior arrangement.
Is De La Rouge a self catering establishment?
Yes, we can however offer an all inclusive boarding option with prior arrangement made.
Can I bring my own rifle?
Yes, you can bring your own rifle, but it must be declared at customs and comply with South African firearms regulations.
What is the minimum age requirement for hunting?
The minimum age requirement is 18 years old, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Is De La Rouge in a malaria- free area?
Yes, according to current data, our establishment is not within a malaria area.
Can I bring my family or non-hunting companions?
Yes, we welcome families and non-hunting companions.
What species can I hunt at De La Rouge?
We offer a wide selection of plains game species native to the region, including kudu, impala, blue wildebeest, gemsbok, sable, blesbok, eland, nyala, and more. A full species and price list can be provided on request.
Do I need a hunting permit or license?
All permit requirements are handled by De La Rouge. International hunters only need to provide passport details and firearm documentation where applicable.
What calibre rifle is recommended for plains game?
For most species, a .308, .30-06, or 7mm is suitable. For larger antelope such as eland, a .300 calibre or higher is recommended. Your PH (professional hunter) can advise based on your target species.
Do you provide rifles for hire?
Yes. We offer reliable, well-maintained rifles for rent. Ammunition is available for most calibres.
Are Professional Hunters (PHs) included?
Yes. All hunts are guided by qualified, experienced Professional Hunters who ensure safety and ethical hunting practices.
Is bowhunting allowed at De La Rouge?
Yes, we welcome both rifle and bowhunters. We have suitable hides and natural terrain for bowhunting.
How long does trophy export take?
Export times vary, but typically range from 4 to 12 months, depending on the taxidermist and international shipping requirements.
Is the water safe to drink?
Yes. Our drinking water is safe and regularly tested, but bottled water is also available for guests who prefer it.
Can De La Rouge accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes. With prior arrangement, we can cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other special dietary needs.
Is travel insurance recommended?
Yes. We recommend that all international guests obtain travel and medical insurance before their trip.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept EFT, major credit cards, and international wire transfers. A deposit is required to confirm bookings.
